LP1 is sensual, mesmerizingly blissful, and completely unique all at the same time.

Tahlia Debrett Barnett, aka FKA Twigs, debuts her first full-length album and it is getting some serious buzz. Vice’s Noisey publication dubbed FKA Twigs as the sexiest modern musician stating that she is “altering the sexual identity of women around the world.” Her approach to sexuality in her music is completely different than current female pop artists like Rihanna or Nicki Minaj in terms of lyricism, style, and appearance. With her euphoric instrumentals laced in smoothly with her modest, angelic voice, FKA Twigs has created a completely new perspective in music.

Her emotional lyrics poetically long for love without being absurdly blatant like the typical modern female pop artists such as Miley Cyrus. Also, she doesn’t twerk in a child’s leotard or grind on things half naked with her legs spread wide-open in her music videos. Instead, in her video for Two Weeks, FKA Twigs sits atop an Egyptian throne with her back straight and knees together as she moves fluidly while singing about her desires. LP1 is sensual, mesmerizingly blissful, and completely unique all at the same time.
