Liima is a Danish/Finnish collective specializing in mellow beats and interesting sound effects. The group came together in the fall of 2015 with ii coming as their first album. The debut, out through 4AD Records, features tracks written in Finland, Berlin, Istanbul, and Madeira.
Although Liima, whose name translates to ‘glue’ in Finnish, is classified as electro-pop. The latest sounds the group has come out with lean more towards an ambient, psychedelic tone that is mesmerizing. This is the kind of stuff you want to get work done to, as it’s just the right amount of upbeat to maintain your interest, but subdued enough to not overpower your ears.
The variance in the synth is what keeps this album interesting. Each track is unique and uses the synth in a slightly different way to keep you on your toes. Up tempo percussion plays a hand in the success of this album as well.
