Tunes @ Night w/ Dream Girl

Dreamgirl KCSynth-pop group Dream Girl has been in many people’s local bucket-list for some time and at the most recent Tunes @ Night many got to check them off. The band describes themselves as “a family of friends lost in a dream” on their Facebook page and it is evident during their performance. During their whole set, one could see that they were enjoying their time on stage while playing music together. In between songs, the audience could hear band members joke around with each other on stage, a chemistry and bliss that is often lost through time in the case of many acts.

Dreamgirl KCLead Vocals, Lacey Hopkins’s peaceful and angelic voice carried notes with grace and a passion that left a lasting impression on listeners. Their groovy tunes had the crowd jigging and smiling throughout the night. The sextet from St. Joseph, Missouri played songs many of which are off their first officially released EP, Illuminaughty. They finished off the night with “Teenage Blue” a song they don’t usually play live even though it is probably their most popular song due to the high demand on Hopkin’s voice, but it was outright beautiful and left the crowd wishing for more.

IDreamgirl KCt was certainly a magical and intimate experience; The smaller venue and audience size of Tunes at Night compared to normal shows makes for a much more relaxed vibe which is stellar during a busy school week.

Dream Girl will be opening for Tennis at the RecordBar in Kansas City this Thursday. If you can’t make it, or even if you can, check out their four song set on Live @ KJHK!
