Girls grows up.
I love Girls. This album follows the debut LP, Album, and their lengthy EP, Broken Dreams Club, both of which are modern classics in the mind of this DJ. Between the first two releases there is a marked progression from the more garage rock sound to the richer arrangements and instrumentation of the EP. Girls refuse to settle while honing the pure songwriting brilliance of Christopher Owen. He and Chet JR White make a lovely and powerful pairing. They worked with producer Doug Boehm here to great effect. This record sounds professional without being undone. This is a very personal album that sounds like something you may have heard before, yet, they make it theirs. Please, for all of our sakes, listen to this album.
