Name/position at KJHK:
I’m Daniel Paese, I’m the Creative Director here at KJHK and take care of posters and all that stuff.
Can you tell me a little bit About your special program?
My special program is “Psychedelic Crossover,” every Saturday at 8 p.m. 10 p.m. and its about just kind of like psychedelic and as I say psychedelic inspired music, and the reason it’s called psychedelic crossover is it goes from like different decades of music and different genres of music. So it’s like crossing over decades which is cool.
Sounds super interesting, what’s your favorite part of doing your show:
I really like—I might have a couple— I really like when people call in either to request when it’s in person. I love going into the studio and it’s definitely more stressful because its not as planned as when you’re pre-programming it, but I would say, just being able to go to the studio and like receive calls and like operate the machinery, just to me that’s really interesting. I like all the soundboard stuff.
Which is kinda hard to do now.
Yeah, yeah it is.
And last question, which band or artist, dead or alive, would you have perform at your funeral?
I think out of pure allegiance to the band or the artists that got me into psychedelic music, which was Jimi Hendrix. I would have Jimi Hendrix play—greatest guitar player of all time, arguably—but I would say he’s definitely my favorite guitar player. He inspired me to play guitar, inspired me to do psychedelic music so without a doubt, Jimmy Hendrix.
Any specific song?
Oh, “Castles Made of Sand” is my one of my favorites, or I also really like Third Stone from the Sun. I’m actually listing a few, so “Castles Made of Sand,” Third Stone from the Sun for this, and May This Be Love are probably my three favorites.
A whole setlist!
Yes, exactly, I can only hope.
Psychedelic Crossover airs on Saturday 8-10 p.m.
