Hello one last time
This is Kyle Stringer again from your favorite vinyl program – “For the Record.”
This week, my blog is more of a recap and a goodbye. I have now spent two years at KJHK, first as a “rotation” DJ, and then as a “special program” DJ. It has been a fantastic experience, and I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing my taste in music with the wonderful people of Lawrence, KS. It is an experience I will never forget, as this will be my last semester on KJHK. Thank you to everyone who has put up with my mindless babblings on air, hearing “dead-air” as I fiddle with the turntables, and listening to The Flaming Lips every week.
It has been a great run, but I must take this moment to say one last thing: support local music. Support local art. Support this beautiful town and everything that it provides. Lawrence is a special place because of the culture that inhabits it. That culture can’t survive unless you support it – unless we all support it. As many of you probably know, the state of Kansas is not typically viewed as progressively minded in the ways of music and art. It is up to all of us to keep these things alive the best we can, and to stand up for what we believe in – to fight when we need to fight and love when we need to love.
See you all out in the world somewhere.
