III is the third installment of archival material from the Detroit proto-punk band Death. Featured in the documentary “A Band Called Death”, Death is portrayed as a hard-rocking group who made punk rock before the Ramones. III portrays the band in a slightly different light, featuring later material from ‘75-90s. The songs are a lot less hard than tracks like “Politicians in My Eyes”, showing influences in from other areas. I prefer the earlier material on here, but the album is surprisingly consistently good for it being the third set of material. Just makes you wonder what Death could have been if they’d gotten any traction back in ‘75.
