Local Reading Series 10/1

Readings for the month of October by Tasha Haas, James Gunn and Tim Lantz.

For the second episode of our local reading series we featured Lawrence author Tasha Haas (fiction), KU professor emeritus James Gunn (science fiction), and creative writing MFA student Tim Lantz (poetry). Tasha Haas

Phil Garland spoke with writer Tasha Haas, a Kansas-native who teaches at Kansas City Kansas Community College. She’ll be appearing in the Big Tent series at the Raven Bookstore on Thursday, October 24 at 7pm.

 

James Gunn

James Gunn has been writing science fiction since 1948, and founded KU’s Center for the Study of Science Fiction. He sat down with correspondent Scott Ross to read a sample from his newest novel, Transcendence. Dr. Gunn will be reading and signing copies of the book on Wednesday, October 9 at 4pm at Jayhawk Ink in the Kansas Union.

 

Tim Lantz

Tim Lantz is a first-year creative writing PhD candidate in poetry writing. He works on the staff of Beecher’s, KU’s grad student-run literary magazine, which has a reading scheduled at the Raven on November 1st. Phil Garland recorded this reading and conversation with Tim.
