Readings for the month of October by Tasha Haas, James Gunn and Tim Lantz.
For the second episode of our local reading series we featured Lawrence author Tasha Haas (fiction), KU professor emeritus James Gunn (science fiction), and creative writing MFA student Tim Lantz (poetry). Both James Gunn and Tasha Haas have readings scheduled in Lawrence during the month of October. Listen to the full live broadcast, or scroll down to listen to individual readers.
Phil Garland spoke with writer Tasha Haas, a Kansas-native who teaches at Kansas City Kansas Community College. She’ll be appearing in the Big Tent series at the Raven Bookstore on Thursday, October 24 at 7pm.
James Gunn has been writing science fiction since 1948, and founded KU’s Center for the Study of Science Fiction. He sat down with correspondent Scott Ross to read a sample from his newest novel, Transcendence. Dr. Gunn will be reading and signing copies of the book on Wednesday, October 9 at 4pm at Jayhawk Ink in the Kansas Union.
Tim Lantz is a first-year creative writing PhD candidate in poetry writing. He works on the staff of Beecher’s, KU’s grad student-run literary magazine, which has a reading scheduled at the Raven on November 1st. Phil Garland recorded this reading and conversation with Tim.
Written by Scott Ross. Tune into the Sunflower Reading Series the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm on KJHK 90.7fm.
