Grounders are a new psych rock and intricate pop group from Toronto. This is their first full length album. They remind me of a heavily Bowie inspired and dreamier version of Tame Impala with less experimentation. “Secret Friend” has the perfect psych rock vibe with lots of fuzz and reverb and dazzling synths. “Face Blind” has a kraut rock vibe with loads of synths. “Vyvanse” has a sensual guitar riff and more heavy synths and reverb. “Fool’s Banquet” is an enthralling track with a Mac DeMarco vibe and groovy bass line. This is a pretty decent first effort. Grounders have a few moments of thrill for sure.
