Kansas Cross Country: Bob Timmons Classic

Kansas Cross Country began its season at the Bob Timmons Classic last Tuesday night.

Both the men’s and women’s teams had dominant outings as the women took four of the top-five spots overall and the men took four of the top-ten spots. In her first career victory, sophomore Lydia Saggau placed first among all runners with a 18:04.4 time pushing her team to a win in the Rim Rock debut.

Kansas freshmen Nashia Baker, Courtney Coppinger and Alaina Schroeder rounded out the top-five respectively. On the men’s side, freshman Dylan Hodgson finished third overall with a 19:19.5 time. Other notable finishes were junior Daniel Koech at fourth, freshman Michael Melgares at seventh, and junior James Hampton at tenth.

Kansas Cross Country will return back to Rim Rock Farm Oct. 3 with both the men’s and women’s teams in action. The men’s 8k will begin at 9 a.m. and women’s 6K will commence at 10 a.m. local time.
