Australian electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOL’s album, Bloom, is perfect for your next classy cocktail soirée. Mid-tempo relaxed synths beats are paired with soul-style vocals. It was hard not to wonder why such a summer-y album would come out in January, until I remembered that January IS summer in Australia.
Bloom‘s lyrical content sticks to predictable celebrations of love and romance. You’ll hear polished production values and a good helping of falsetto. The tracks are pretty consistent, and the album’s range is narrow. There are no real bangers to speak of, and nothing particularly innovative going on with the beats. This album is something safe and inoffensive to put on if you need some chill, classy beats that won’t drown out your conversation.
