Someone add Roosevelt to the list of president names that also make cool stage names. Marius Lauber, aka Roosevelt is a producer/DJ turned solo act fresh out of Cologne, Germany. After listening to this album it’s no surprise that he belongs to Greco-Roman, the same label as European electropop powerhouses Disclosure and Baio.
This self titled album (complete with 80s inspired cover art) is a beautiful blend of disco, house, yacht rock, and electropop. Lauber’s strength as a producer is really exemplified when you listen to the album in full because each song flows seamlessly into the next. Despite the relatively unconventional nature of the album, it still feels very accessible, so (even though I recommend listening to it all at once) tracks can stand alone without issue.
There are so many things going right in this album. Super thick bass line, well crafted lyrics, beautiful melodies, and enticing chords make for a successful and enjoyable listening experience.
