Insofar as I can tell, this isn’t technically even an EP, just three singles on a CD. That aside, they’re very good singles. It’s definitely nothing revolutionary yet, but whoever is behind morgxn has a lot of talent and potential, and thoroughly entertained me. There is usually something similar to this in rotation at KJHK, and I find myself playing it on air pretty often.
“home” and “hard pill to swallow” are the newest singles. “home” is certainly solid, with a simple beat and bass groove, but doesn’t stand out as much as the others. “hard pill” has a darker tone, though never crosses into the territory of truly dark or scary. “love you with the lights on” was released last summer but is still probably the best of these three. It sounds the most original and its lyrics seem the most genuine. There is a “dirty radio edit” of this track on Soundcloud that I would also certainly recommend.
Recommended If You Like: Possibly-pseudo-soulful electronic pop anthems, Miike Snow?, artists who don’t like capital letters.
Recommended Tracks: 3 (love you with the lights on), 1 (home), 2 (hard pill to swallow)
Do Not Play: None
