Deep in the waves of guitar distortion and hard times, Shelles brings the spacey rock riffs together with some ole’ time country. Deep vocals mix with looping feels in the opening track, “Wild and Butchered,” to leave a sit back, plug-in, and tune out kind of vibe. Inspired by artists like Dinosaur Jr., Shelles strikes up the nerve with soloing bridges between shaky and crying tones. The second track strikes as a single on the album and puts “Landfill” and “Carousel” closer on more of a Neutral Milk Hotel vibe. The last part of the album, “Let it Hurt” and “Outro,” take the tone down and put a good cool-off vibe from the rest of the album. All in all, Shelles holds their weight among rock albums and could be thrown into any high gain and jam spot.
