The Bad Signs: Black Magic Moments

Most artists from Nashville can’t help but bring their signature country influence song into their music, even if they take an opposite approach in sound. The result gives you, The Bad Signs, described as “goth country.” The three-piece bad’s latest release Black Magic Moments proves this odd combination can work.

Black Magic Moments is a very lonely and unsettling EP. The interesting sounds of the band are taken to another level with a 60’s retro theme. The instruments and vocals are drawn out to give a feeling of isolation. While the 60’s vibe is there, it doesn’t sound like this album was recorded in the 60’s but rather The Bad Signs found an abandoned studio from the 60’s to record Black Magic Moments.

The first four tracks are the EP themselves, with three live tracks. Honestly, there isn’t a bad track on Black Magic Moments, however, if you just want to dip your toes into this “goth country” scene, start with “Blue Love” and “Love Lock.”
