1.) Soccer Mommy – color theory

Soccer Mommy’s sophomore album somehow manages to be both brighter and darker than her debut, Cleancolor theory is an exploration in growth, encapsulating the young artist’s rise to indie fame and the struggles that have arisen as a result.

2.) Car Seat Headrest – “Can’t Cool Me Down” [Single]

In 2020, Car Seat Headrest is reinventing itself. This first single release from their upcoming album Making a Door Less Open (their first release in four years) marks a shift from their well-established sound within the realm of gritty rock to their new experimentation in electronic music.

Real Estate: The Main Thing Album Review | Pitchfork

3.) Real Estate – The Main Thing

Coming three years after their last project, Real Estate dives even further into their hook laden indie rock on The Main Thing. The New Jersey band’s bright guitar lines are set against emotionally nuanced lyrics and complex arrangements.

Full Hand

4.) Kevin Krauter – Full Hand

On his sophomore album, Full Hand, Indiana musician Kevin Krauter tackles complicated emotional states and ideas through elliptical songwriting that is at once poetic and truthful. It’s an album that is a holistic look at a human life in progress–personal flaws mean everything until they suddenly don’t.

5.) Boy Romeo – Pure Soul

As Boy Romeo, John Steiner makes power pop as joyful as it is ruthlessly efficient. His songs serve as a reminder that the Beatles and their British Invasion peers were raised as much on traditional pop and jazz standards as rock ‘n’ roll and that aggression was the exception rather than the norm for years in the genre.
