How did you guys come up with your band name?
This band is actually in its 3rd iteration with songs dating back to about 2005. After an 18 year break, a few lineup and name changes we settled on The State of Everything in late 2023, which basically hints that this is all a huge mess.
What genre would you use to describe your music?
We are pretty much a 90s music mashup of Emo/Alt/Indie rock with influences ranging from Björk to Iron Maiden.
If you could do anything with your band, what would you want to do? What’s the ultimate goal?
Since most of us are “old”, our ultimate goal with this band is to have fun. No delusions of rockstardom in our future, we just want to play music we enjoy making, and hope others want to come along for the ride. None of us are new to the KC/Lawrence music scene with roots going back to the mid 90s. We are back in the studio Saturday morning right after the Farmers Ball to finish a new EP.
What’s your biggest inspiration as a band?
Our biggest inspiration? That’s easy.. the cheers and claps from fans. Makes it all worth it.
