Kansas Drag Showcase

Ten drag artists from the LFK and KCMO area performed at the Kansas Drag Showcase on Saturday, April 19th, presented by Student Union Activities (SUA). This year’s theme was All-Stars, consisting of former KDS performers such as Ms. EdaBull, Vantas, Novacayne DeMornay, Johnny Diablo, and more.

With dollar bills in hand, the crowd eagerly awaited for the show to begin as hosts Southern Hxll and Karmella Uchawi welcomed each performer to the stage. Other artists ranged from Viagris, Jello Tin Shot, Touretta Lynn, and Craven Moore-Payne.

Saturday’s drag show was my first time attending the KDS, and dare I say, it was a dream come true. From the colorful lighting to the stellar performances, I found myself in awe of each artist’s individual creativity and flare. Events like KDS highlight the impact drag has on our local community, and provides a chance for college students and surrounding artists to share their craft. Thank you for SUA and all of the performers for making this show so memorable!
