Flhostin Paradise’s host share their electronic artists of the month picks
Riley’s Pick:

If you know me personally, you’d know that I am a very huge fan of Daft Punk, like most people. Everyone loves their funky sounds and beautiful melodies, along with incredible production quality that keeps people loving them even more. So when I was high school I became infatuated with any producer that scored a similar resembles to the Robotic Disco Gods. Which brings me to my first ever Flhostin Paradise artist of the month pick, VANGUARD.

I first heard VANGAURD back when I was a sophomore in high school, and I’ve loved them ever since. What they bring to the world of house music is a style a funk that is hard to come by. VANGAURD is comprised of two Welsh friends, James and Tom. very, very, very little is known about the group but one thing is for sure: they make some of the catchiest songs around and it will keep evolving with time.

Originally their sound was more French House, heavily sampled disco along with a cool bass line and a high BPM tempo to get people moving. Now, they’ve slowed things down immensely and the only thing that I can personally compare to their new material to is mid 90’s Slow Jams.

So sit back and relax, pop in your VHS copy of “Cruel Intensions”, maybe boot up you Playstation One and think about the simpler times of the 90’s.

Alex’s Pick

My pick of the month, and really last month, is RL Grime.

Raised in the mean streets of Overland Park, Kan., I found myself getting heavy into gangster rap, obviously. What RL Grime (The Alter Ego to Dj/Producer Clockwork) does is take the heaviness of southern gangster rap instrumentals and cracks it up by about 10. He is one of the forerunners in the Trap Style of electronic music that is taking the world by storm, and for good reason too. Not only is his production top notch, but his style is one to envy for up and coming producers.

Two songs of his that I would like to showcase this month are his remixes of “Mercy” by Kanye West and Jay-Z and “Satisfaction” by Benny Benassi.

His “Mercy” remix, with fellow producer Salva, helped him gain popularity and notoriety in the electronic music world and is being played in basically every club by DJs around the world.

His remix of “Satisfaction” is a modern twist on the classic Electronic/Dance song by Benny Benassi. This particular song is what really got me into electronic music and RL Grime’s remix makes me love it even more.
