Greg Enemy: “xtra small”

Interesting (and great) hip hop from an interesting local artist

Greg Enemy always sets his sights on unique and different styles, whether it be music, clothing, or even twitter commentary.  When I interviewed him last spring, I mentioned that I thought he was one the most interesting emcees in the area.  This prompted a wide smile and shows his intentions with his music.  The long awaited “xtra small” mixtape fulfills his goal of uniqueness.  He doesn’t just rap over “rap” beats but beats from TLC and Samiyam.  This isn’t your average redo album of Black and Yellow remixes (and if you don’t know about that, that’s a good thing).  At times earlier in the mixtape it feels unnecessarily busy but evens out near the middle and end.  Greg’s ability to write is absolutely clear throughout especially on Tracks 2, 5, 8, 9, and 12.  Basically this album is SUPER interesting, catchy, and intelligent (sophisticated goon shit).  For being xtra small, greg enemy commands a great deal of attention worldwide.  If you don’t play this goblins will eat your soul.
