High Waisted: On Ludlow

29DB7AA38-A9B2-C9A0-CAA4271DA4C6EE1CHigh Waisted is a surf rock band that originated in New York City. Their debut album On Ludlow consists of 12 tracks that will make you feel like you’re at the beach on a hot summer day. Out of the 12 track album, 4 songs in particular stuck out to me. The first track was: “Trust”.
“Won’t say I’m sorry, ‘Cause I did nothing wrong
That’s why I’m leaving, they’re treating me wrong
Would it have last, if I had, another?”
This track is about breaking up with someone and moving on; the 60’s rock instrumental makes it more interesting to listen to than your ‘everyday run of the mill typical break up song’. “Door” was another good track by High Waisted. This song contains so much teenage angst that you can’t help but picture it being in a 90s high school flick.
“You don’t have to be, what I needed you to be
No, no, no
You don’t have to say, what I needed you to say
Cause I’m gone yeah, I’m gone, please notice me”
The background vocals really complete this track in my opinion. The third track that stuck out me was “Hey Hey”. Personally this track is my favorite. The bass line combined with the guitar riffs form a beautiful collision of oceanic goodness. And last but not least, the other track the stuck out to me was “Wail”. It sounded like a mix of Madonna and Courtney Love. High Waisted is pretty rad band that has an overall carefree ‘it’s summer forever’ type of vibe.
