Miguel Migs: Outside the Skyline

Synth fills and melodies, heavy bass lines and a variety of vocal textures.

In his newest release, Outside the Skyline, deep-house producer Miguel Migs does big things. A multitude of genres are present throughout the album-old school funk and soul, elements of disco, groove and dance-floor pop, as well as heavier influence from reggae/dub and progressive electronic. Synth fills and melodies, heavy bass lines and a variety of vocal textures make for a diverse and rich sonic experience. Migs has an impressive roster of experienced vocalist to assist his efforts bringing so many styles into one album. Outside the Skyline features reggae legends Freddie Macgregor, Capleton and Half Pint. Also look for disco diva Evelyn “Champagne” King, nujazz vocalist Georg Levin along with Migs’ longtime collaborators Lisa Shaw and Aya.

I really enjoy your masterful musical descriptions of albumns, such as” Outside the Skyline” you’re able to convey through your lyrical writings, a very good description of what I’m hearing! I can’t wait to check out the artists’ work for myself. Thank you for introducing me to music I would otherwise probably never find on my own. Thank you!
