Pop music with touches of psychedelia.
Even though Dr. Dog has been around since ’99 I had never heard them. I was under the impression they’d be bluesy-folk and upon hearing the opening track to this album, which has a delta blues twang, I thought that’s how the entire album would go. I was wrong. Pretty much the entire album has pop sentiments and a bit of a psychedelic approach, and it’s definitely feel-good music. Not a depressing one in the bunch! #11 reminds me a bit of T-Rex (this guy is no Marc Bolan though). Apparently the band is trying out a new direction and fans have said this is their weakest release yet, but since they’re new to me I dig it.
