The 60s revival continues with latest ambassadors of peace and magic
Foxygen is the best example of a band blending 60s psych with a modern sensibility that I’ve heard in a long time. Their lead vocalist sounds like a strange mixture of Mick Jagger and Ray Davies from the Kinks and while that may not sound like it should work, he somehow pulls it off. My personal track picks are the lead single “San Francisco” which sounds like it longs for the days that hippie folkies roamed streets of Haight-Ashbury just looking for love and a good time. I am also a big fan of the title track, which the title pretty much sums up Foxygen’s agenda. They’re here to give peace and magic to the people of the 21st century and I think they’re doing a damn good job.
