Catchy synth pop used for more atmospheric purposes
Boise, Idaho native Trevor Powers’ sophomore album Wondrous Bughouse may have won the award for one of the best album titles ever. It also sounds really great. Compared to his debut album, Year Of Hibernation, Wondrous Bughouse is much more fleshed out. He uses catchy, synthy pop hooks, but not in the traditional pop form. The addition of live drums also make for a more organic sound and avoids the pre-programed beat a lot of these one person outfits can have. All of these elements come together to make a beautiful and unique  assemblage of songs.
