Volcano Choir – Repave

Justin Vernon is back with his side project Volcano Choir

Volcano Choir — Repave

Repave is the second album from Volcano Choir, a band headed by Justin Vernon also known as Bon Iver.  Their sound is highly instrumental with very soothing vocals on all of the tracks.   It is a good follow up to their debut album “Unmap”  from 2009 the sound is consistent but more put together in terms of the cohesiveness of the band.  We start off with “Tiderays”  and “Acetate” which is a great way to start the album off strong and make us want to hear more.   The vocals are incredible on these tracks as well as on the the rest of the album.   The indie folk sound is pretty much at its best on the tracks “Alaskans” and “Kneel”.  “Almanac”  ends this album with one of the best songs on the album and satisfies the listener after having listened to the whole thing through.
