This isn’t your average album, it’s damn near perfect.

Los Angeles singer/songwriter Jillian Banks, who goes simply by Banks, releases her first full length album after two very successful EPs in the last year.  The London EP was on rotation at KJHK for a while last year and was pretty well received.  Her unique, dark, and brooding style really shines on this album.  Her powerful vocals burst through whatever is going on in the background and she proves that she really is a Goddess.  A couple of the best songs from her EPs are on this album including “Waiting Game,” “This is What it Feels Like,” “Change,” and “Warm Water.”  These are all worth giving a spin, along with “You Should Know Where I’m Coming From,” “Brain,” and “Stick.”  “Drowning” is probably the best song on this album, illustrating Banks’ skill at all aspects of songwriting and some awesome production makes this track shine.  This isn’t your average album, it’s damn near perfect.

Recommended if you like The Weeknd, Lauryn Hill, and Fiona Apple.
