Jayhawks Defeat Middle Tennessee State in Season Opener, 7-3

The Kansas Jayhawks defeated the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders 7-3 in their season opener, as head coach Ritch Price recorded his 300th career victory with Kansas.

Sophomore Frank Duncan gave up three runs, four hits, and four walks in 5.2 innings in his first career start.

Junior catcher Alex DeLeon went two for five at the plate with four RBI’s for Kansas, as the team collectively mustered 10 hits.

The Jayhawks return to action with a double-header Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m.  against Bowling Green, with the second game slated to start at 2:00 p.m.  against Belmont.

Junior Thomas Taylor and freshman Wes Benjamin are the projected starters for Kansas.
