Deers, newly formed Spanish group, makes waves

Barn, the two-track EP from Spanish girl group, Deers, has already managed to cause quite a stir overseas. This release from the newly formed band has attracted the attention of major music publications like Fader, DIY, and NME, the latter of which has dubbed Deers “Europe’s most exciting new band.”

The first track on the EP, “Castigadas en el Granero,” is the first song the group has recorded as a four-piece band.  The track perfectly showcases the group’s slightly unrehearsed effortless sound that sets them apart from other overproduced girl groups. It’s the kind of lo-fi garage pop you’d expect to hear in a dive bar, not being reviewed by the NME.

The second track, “Between Cans,” slightly misses the mark if only because of the harmony? Background vocals? (if you can even call it that) which are distractingly loud and slack.
