“…breaking strings, crapping pants…” – Brad Girard

I got the chance to talk with local indie pop darlings Toughies last Saturday about their upcoming EP release (full disclosure: I recorded, mixed and mastered the EP with them this past summer, so I’m a bit biased about how excellent it is).

We discussed how Toughies formed from the ashes of local luminaries Haunt Ananta, Panda Circus and 1471980_10153385058351694_2035539166760548785_nThe Windup Birds, as well as Brad and Carl’s pre-show ritual (disgusting but effective), the story behind their new song “Birthday Party” (also disgusting but effective), and Caroline’s involvement with the inaugural Girls Rock Lawrence camp this past summer (just plain effective). We also deal with a few phone interruptions, including one from Toughies bassist Joe Gronniger (who forgot to invite the bass player?), and one from a very convincing Joe imposter. Check it out!
