Chrissy: Join Me, The Right to Dance with Somebody, Growl

chrissyChrissy is Chris Shively, a producer and DJ based in Chicago and known for his prominence in the juke/footwork scene. He is resident DJ at the legendary Chicago nightclub Smart Bar. Chrissy is also a Kansas City native and a KJHK alum. He has performed under several names including Murderbot, Chris E Pants, Chrissy Murderbot, and now just Chrissy. His encyclopedic knowledge of dance music is documented on his “My Year of Mixtapes” blog, which you should check out if you aren’t already familiar with it.

This disc includes “The Right to Dance with Somebody” single, the “Join Me” single (a collaboration with former Lawrencian Miles Bonny), and the Growl EP (a collaboration with Shaun Wright of Hercules & Love Affair). Within these tracks you will find disco-influenced Chicago house with all kinds of hidden treats for the discerning listener. Look out for a variety of beat styles, Moroder-esque synths, vintage disco samples, a hilarious and surprising guitar riff, and deliberately cheesy vocal tracks.
