The Boston-based indie pop trio, Ian Sweet, released their second album of the year, Shapeshifter, just a few months after their self-titled project launched in June. With Shapeshifter, Ian Sweet deliver a unique style of indie pop that sounds reminiscent of the soundtrack to the best indie movie of the summer, but in a totally unique and groovy way. I constantly found myself being lost in Jillian Medford’s distorted guitar riffs and her eerie lyrics. The band’s artistic abilities are easy to spot just by looking at the cover art or glancing at song titles such as “Slime Time Live.” Yep, that’s a reference to the popular Nickelodeon show. I found this album very refreshing and spontaneous and will be keeping this on repeat.
