November has come Lawrence! This week we’ve got a lot of new albums in our top 5, lead by Baby Jey (no relation). Plenty of good records have made their way into our top 30 for this week, check them out below!
Top 5 Charts:
1.) Baby Jey – Someday Cowboy
(From a previous week) Baby Jey, not to be confused with our own mascot Baby Jay, are a group from Edmonton making dynamic folk-pop. There’s a wide variety of instrumentation on Someday Cowboy that creates a vivid landscape for feelings of nostalgia and reflection.
2.) Ian Sweet – Crush Crusher
Ian Sweet has always been an outlet both creatively and emotionally for Jilian Medford. On her debut LP, she turns these dense and compassionate feelings into a beautiful arrangement of songs that span a unique range of sounds and genres.
3.) JOJI – Ballads 1
The singer and producer from Osaka, Joji, showcases his wide variety of talents on his debut album Ballads 1. The album’s down-tempo and melancholic themes blend elements of trap, folk, electronic, and R&B.
4.) Kurt Vile – Bottle It In
Recorded in studios across the country over the course of two years, Kurt Vile returns in 2018 with Bottle It In. The album shows that an artist with as much experience and talent as Vile can still find room to evolve and grow. Kurt Vile will be performing at The Truman in Kansas City on February 27th, 2019.
5.) BRONCHO – Bad Behavior
“This album takes classic garage rock and gives it a hazy DIY feel. The strong melodies throughout the album will make you come back to this listen after listen.” Read the full review written by Miranda Roberts HERE. BRONCHO will be performing at The Riot Room in Kansas City on November 17, 2018.
