Charts & Adds: Week of 8/13 – 8/20

Rumor has it the temperature is supposed to decrease over the next few weeks. Whether or not that’s true, you can always cool down with some fantastic tunes on KJHK. Check out this week’s newest additions!

Top 5 Charts:

1.) Blood Orange – Angel’s Pulse

Blood Orange tops the KJHK charts for the third consecutive week. Diverging in several senses from previous works, like Negro SwanAngel’s Pulse is an eclectic “mix-tape” of sorts, featuring a plethora of collaborators.

2.) Drab Majesty – Modern Mirror

Described as a “Gothic-New Wave” duo, Drab Majesty crafts shimmery synth pop tracks that seem to transcend time and genre. Listening to Modern Mirror is like having an fever dream set in the 80’s (in the best way possible).

3.) Guache – A People’s History of Gauche

Gauche features members previously known for their work in groups like Priests and Downtown Boys. A People’s History of Gauche, the group’s first EP, is described as a mixture of “70’s sax solos, 80’s synth, and 90’s power punk.”

4.) Night Moves – Can You Really Find Me

This third album from Minneapolis group Night Moves is perhaps their most dazzling work yet. The dim, neon-illuminated room on the cover of Can You Really Find Me echoes the dreamy, soulful quality of the songs within.

5.) Purple Mountains – Purple Mountains

David Berman of Silver Jews returned after a lengthy hiatus during which he spent a great deal of time reading and reflecting. Written following a series of strained personal relationships and the death of his mother, Purple Mountains is a study in grief, resentment, and quiet introspection. Sadly, Berman passed away shortly after the release of his album.
