Mouthbreathers: “Die Alone” b/w “Validation 7”

Replay Records delivers the goods.

Lawrence locals Mouthbreathers released this 33 RPM 7” on hometown Replay Records, and it’s worth your time. Zachary Place Cole is at The Replay Lounge, playing the stage there (and elsewhere) with both Mouthbreathers and Rooftop Vigilantes, dishing out drinks behind the bar, and selling vinyls for Replay Records. The A-side of this one, “Die Alone” is a long-runner, transitioning from the heavy plodding dirge, seeping off the wax grooves like a leaky dam, then the dam breaks and the guys tear into the frenetic energy of a great punk track. “Validation” is a beautiful shout out for affirmation, not quite as inventive as the other side of the wax, but a solid recording of somewhat established punk rock mentality and style.

Think: The good stuff. It’s bold rock that dives into punk headfirst.
REC: Both sides, but especially “Die Alone”
FCC: Clean
Label: Replay Records
Release Date: August 2012
