November 20th is a huge night for comedy in lovely Lawrence, Kansas.
The Lawrence comedy scene will be in full effect tonight, as there are some major events going down throughout the city tonight, including the finale of an event we discussed on Ad Astra Radio earlier this year, as well as a show dedicated to performance without sound. You read that correctly.
First off, the finale of Jokefighter, titled Joke Fighter: Judgment Night is taking place at the Jazzhaus in Lawrence tonight. On this semester’s first edition of Ad Astra Radio, we chatted on the air with Bene Garcia, Chance Dibben and Peter Lyrene, and we discussed Joke Fighter (amongst a myriad of other topics), a comedy competition like no other. It’s been a great series of events so far and tonight is the finale. Harpoon Presents: Joke Fighter – Judgment Night is a show that anyone and everyone should check out, it’s going to be a great show, just as each part of the series has been so far. Doors open 9 Pm and the show starts at 10.
Also taking place tonight from 7-9PM at Pachamamas in Lawrence is Harpoon Presents: 7 Minutes in Purgatory with Ian Abramson. This is going to be a very unique show, as it features a comedian telling jokes without audience interaction. That’s right, comics will be delivering jokes in an empty room while the audience watches on a projector. The hilarity begins at 7PM.
Stay tuned to Ad Astra Radio and kjhk.org for more upcoming Lawrence comedy updates.
Ad Astra Radio airs every Wednesday night at 7PM on KJHK.
