naytronixMister Divine is a new project from Nate Brenner, the bassist of tUnE-yArDs. There are some influences from Merill Garbus, but Brenner’s solo work goes in a very different direction from spastic and sometimes screechy tUnE-yArDs tracks. Much more laid back yet still complex electronic songs, with a softer voice and slower pace.

Mister Divine is reminiscent of old Twin Sister, which is a very high compliment. The first track and title of the album starts off with a question: “Mister Divine, did you realize that you gotta pay the price?” “Starting Over” is fast paced and repetitive; an song for anyone who wants to get away and change themselves. “The Wall” is funkier with a Toro y Moi kind of feel. “Future” is another favorite, telling the listener to “Keep your eyes on the future, keep that 9-5.” All of these songs are so motivational! This album is going to help me get my life together 2k15.
