Austin band, BUHU, and their new album titled Relationshapes was described by KJHK’s John McCain as having “the soul of early 2000’s indie,” which is to say BUHU kind of sounds like ’80s electronic rock with some guitars thrown into the mix. BUHU is Juan Pablo Mendez Barjau, Clellan Hyatt and Jeremy Rogers.
The description on their website gets a little silly and self-important, but the theme of Relationshapes is meant to capture “the struggles of youthful love, emotional toxicity, and redemption between twenty-somethings.” The band-mates all accidentally ran into each other in Austin and made a decent spring/summer album to throw on if you want to listen to something upbeat, techy and a little rocky.
