sun-seekerDebut single releases are immensely fun. They’re short, to the point, and provide just a small glimpse into the minds and intentions of a new artist. With Sunseeker, we are treated to strong composition qualities in a framework of chamber pop and indie rock sensibilities. There is nothing here you haven’t heard before, but you may find it enjoyable and pleasing all the same. This is the kind of music to play softly beyond the pages of a good book or whilst relaxing on a perfectly warm, spring day.

Despite totaling little over seven minutes in length, one gets the feeling that the group are prepared to take their music beyond the lively bar scenes of Nashville and into the soundspace of the rest of the country. There is an eager and inquisitive quality to the music that requires more than one listen to appreciate, but not more than two or three to understand. In the grand scheme, Sunseeker wants you to desire more and that’s exactly what they have accomplished.

Of course, it is difficult to criticize a single unless it is just absolutely horrid and irredeemable. Luckily that’s not the case here, and it should certainly inspire the intrigue of anyone who gives “Georgia Dust” a shot.
