KU uses late run to put away Texas Tech

Frank Mason scored a game-high 26 points as the Kansas Jayhawks pulled away from Texas Tech 85-68 at Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

After knocking off West Virginia in overtime, the Red Raiders entered Lawrence with extra confidence. KU went into the half with a 37-27 lead, but Texas Tech responded to open the second frame. The Red Raiders trailed KU 60-55 with 8 minutes remaining before the Jayhawks heated up from the 3-point line. The 12-0 run sucked the life out of Texas Tech, and Kansas cruised to their 48th consecutive victory in Lawrence.

Freshman guard Josh Jackson earned a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds. The backcourt combination of senior Frank Mason and junior Devonte’ Graham proved too much for Texas Tech. The two guards combined for 46 points and 7-12 from the 3-point line. As a team, KU shot 50% from the 3-point line. Half of the shots Texas Tech attempted were 3-pointers.

Junior forward Zach Smith led the Red Raiders with 17 points.

After allowing over 80 points in their previous two games, the Kansas defense tightened up, holding Texas Tech to 40% from the field. Bill Self has never allowed 80 points in three consecutive games while at KU.

Key Moment
