Wyatt Hall: Audio Content Director

Can you tell me a little bit about your special program?

Yeah, so my program is called modern flow, and it is a program all about, like, modern hip hop and R&B, but with a more—I show the inspiration of older genres mixed in as well. So like I play a lot of hip hop that is very jazzy and shows that aspect of their inspiration. I play a lot of R&B that is more, like, soul-based rather than, you know, more pop-based. I play a lot of, you know, modern funk and that sort of thing and it’s kind of showing modern music that displays its roots. That makes it clear where it came from. Just because I think it’s a nice blend of genres to kind of mix, old and new.

What’s your favorite part of doing your show:

I think it’s exploring all the music with this being a space that is not something that we traditionally hit really hard here at KJ. I’m having to do a lot of exploration on my own to find music to play. And I’m being introduced to a lot of new music that I didn’t know before. And so I think that’s probably my favorite part is just constantly finding new things to listen to.

Which band or artist, dead or alive, would you have perform at your funeral?

I was going to say my favorite artist, Anderson .Paak, but you threw “funeral” in there at the end. I guess for a funeral I’d have to say Noname? They have a song called Shadow Man where it’s just three people rapping about their funerals so that probably is a good fit for my funeral.
