Rare Monk is a nice mixture of psych rock, 90’s alt. rock, pop and jazz
Rare Monk, a band from Portland, Oregon, creates a nice flow of sound between their use of string instrumentation, some noise distortion, and a 90’s alternative sound. Surprisingly, they keep all of these elements in perfect harmony in several key tracks such as, ‘Death By Proxy,’ ‘Timebreakers,’ and ‘Sleep/Attack.’ The only instrumental track, ‘Dreadnought,’ is the most aggressive song on the album. The great thing about this album is that it has so much to offer for a variety of music listeners, offering minor elements of psychedelic rock, 90’s alternative, pop, and a dose of jazz. Overall, this complex and diverse album will captivate anyone with a pair of ears.
