Archetype: “Red Wedding”

Amazing local hip-hop artists are back and bringing it!

Archetype is one of my favorite hip hop groups of all time. The combination of Nezbeat’s production and I.D.’s intelligent and thought/memory provoking always have connected to me and their 3rd and final release, Red Wedding, is no different. The album explores various topics lyrically as Bleed For Them did and I.D. provides some beautiful hooks (2, 4, 12). Nezbeat always amazing me with how he moves from one project to another and still provides a new but distinct sound. His most recent release, Good Hair, was funk based but Red Wedding now has a ton of simple beats, along with somewhat medieval sounds (does that even make sense?) Red Wedding won’t strike you as catchy on the first listen but it sinks into your mind and I.D.’s rhymes will be on repeat in your head soon enough. This is a CLASSIC album and I hate the word classic.
