Before their show at the Mini Bar in Kansas City, Anemone graciously sat down with me in a ramen shop two blocks from the venue.

I walked in and saw a table full of empty bowls and satiated faces. Cholé Soldevila, the band’s leading lady, told me they were just finishing up. We schooched into a booth along with guitarist Gabriel Lambert, bassist Zach Irving and drummer Miles Dupire-Gagnon.

The news of the passing of Her’s band members in an automobile accident weighed on the hearts of Anemone members. Soldevila said made the news even harder to digest, because they have been on tour and away from home for the past five weeks.

Regardless of circumstances, the band was excited for their first show in Kansas City and their jovial, charismatic spirits were evident.
