Cami Koons, DJ Ron, Content Director and host of French Connection
Tell us a bit about the French Connection
Yeah, so the French connection is a two-hour show on Tuesdays from 8 to 10 PM where I play French music. I like to theme it a lot. For example, one week I did a French Acadian show. It’s basically like bluegrass French music from a specific region in Canada, so that was really fun. This Tuesday I did one that was a synth-wave episode. So, I like to take prominent areas or prominent genres in French music and then theme a whole episode around it or something to that effect.
What would you say your favorite part about hosting it is?
I think my favorite part is that I’ve actually had a lot of people tell me that they’ve listened to the French Connection and then sought out French music on their own. That’s super exciting to me because I speak French and I love French culture. So being able to expose that to anyone else is a win for me, I would say.
Do you want to pursue a career in broadcasting?
I’m definitely not opposed to it. There’s a lot of different tracks in the journalism field that I’m kind of looking towards, but I know for sure that once I graduate, student shows like this, and being a part of a radio station is something I’m going to miss.
French Connection airs every Tuesday from 8 to 10 PM.
