Green can truly sing about anything she wants, do whatever she wants, and be whoever she wants.
Hardly Art artist, Colleen Green, has recently put out her second album with the label. To say the least, it’s a solid piece of work. Titled I Want To Grow Up, Green shows exactly that through her music.
Most tracks show no change lyrically or instrumentally from past songs of Green’s, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. “I Want To Grow Up,” the first track and title track of the album starts off very grungy and dark with angsty lyrics (almost reminiscent of a Veruca Salt track).
Throughout the rest of the album, Green fluctuates from mature lyrics of understanding heartbreak and fairness to a more adolescent feel. Regardless though, she is able to make her songs very relatable. Whether it’s being able to connect to how much you love TV or how you would do anything to be with that *perfect* someone, listeners should be able to get where Green is coming from.
Lastly, she does a perfect job at tying up all the loose ends up of the album with the final track “Whatever I Want,” showing that Green can truly sing about anything she wants, do whatever she wants, and be whoever she wants.
